Afghan Community Vancouver Foundation
Since 2004, our journey of community support began. In 2005, we founded the Afghan Canadian Youth Network. Collaborating with the former Afghan Association, we played a pivotal role in assisting Afghan newcomers with housing, employment, and advocating for Afghan refugees in detaining centres, CBSA and Courts.
From the outset, we actively participated in organizing cultural and religious events, fostering unity and celebration within our community. In 2018, our commitment deepened with the establishment of the Afghan Community Vancouver Foundation, officially incorporated in 2022.
During the pandemic, ACFV stood out as the sole Afghan organization providing essential support to elders. We ensured they received groceries, medications, and transportation to medical appointments. Since 2005, we’ve been the voice of our community, disseminating announcements and fostering connectivity.

As the sole organization tightly intertwined with the Afghan community, we prioritize their needs and strive for their empowerment and success.

Our Story
Our story is one of resilience, compassion, and community empowerment. It began in 2004 when a small group of individuals came together with a shared vision: to support and uplift the Afghan community in BC. Recognizing the challenges faced by newcomers, we established the Afghan Canadian Youth Network in 2005, becoming key figures in providing essential services like housing, employment assistance, and advocacy for refugees.
As our impact grew, so did our involvement in cultural and religious events, cementing our role as a unifying force within the community. In 2018, we took a significant step forward with the establishment of the Afghan Community Vancouver Foundation, marking a new chapter in our journey towards long-term empowerment and community development.
Throughout the years, we’ve weathered challenges together, including the unprecedented hurdles posed by the pandemic. Despite the obstacles, we’ve remained unwavering in our commitment to serving the needs of the community, ensuring that no one is left behind.
In 2023, over 5000 people benefited from our services, reflecting the breadth and depth of our impact. Our story is one of resilience in the face of adversity, of compassion in times of need, and of empowerment through collective action. It’s a story of community coming together to create positive change and build a brighter future for generations to come.
