Today, we at the Afghan Community Vancouver Foundation (ACVF) stand in solidarity with Indigenous peoples across British Columbia and Canada. From our office here in Surrey, we acknowledge that we live, work, and serve on the traditional and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples, including the Kwantlen, Katzie, and Semiahmoo Nations.
This day reminds us of the deep pain caused by residential schools — of children taken from their families, of lives forever changed, and of generations carrying that grief.
As a community that was forced to immigrate, we understand what it means to leave home, endure loss, and hope for a safe and dignified life. That shared experience deepens our empathy and strengthens our commitment to stand with Indigenous peoples — not just in words, but in action.
Every Child Matters. Every Story Matters. Every Life Matters.
