When one shines, we all shine together

It is a shared celebration, because when one of us is recognized, it honours all of us.

The Afghan Community Vancouver Foundation (ACVF) extends its warmest and most heartfelt congratulations to our esteemed President, Mr. Abdul Wadood Dilsoz, on being awarded the BC Highest Honours Medal of Good Citizenship by the Government of British Columbia on August 4, 2025.

This honour is a powerful and well-deserved recognition of Mr. Dilsoz’s unwavering commitment to public service, his compassionate leadership, and his enduring dedication to the betterment of our province and the Afghan community. For over two decades, Mr. Dilsoz has worked tirelessly to uplift the lives of newcomers, refugees, and Afghan Canadians who have proudly called British Columbia home for decades—always guided by a spirit of humility, integrity, and selfless service. From helping Afghan families resettle with dignity, to advocating for equitable policies, to creating pathways for integration, belonging, and success, Mr. Dilsoz leadership has been a source of hope in difficult times and a beacon of resilience for those navigating new beginnings in Canada.

The Medal of Good Citizenship is more than an individual honour—it is a tribute to the values Mr. Dilsoz embodies: compassion, justice, inclusion, and community. It is also a moment of pride for the entire Afghan community in British Columbia and beyond, who see in this recognition the affirmation of their shared journey, struggles, and contributions.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, volunteers, and members of ACVF, we express our deepest gratitude to Mr. Dilsoz for his exemplary service and dedication. We are inspired by his achievements and encouraged by the legacy he continues to build.

With pride and admiration,Afghan Community Vancouver Foundation (ACVF) August 5, 2025
